Should I ask my inlaws for money?
After my wife and I were married, I had to take out about 5k in student loans to keep us afloat as I finished my degree. Her parents live very very very comfortably and I think it would make sense to ask them for the 5k as they never had to pay for a college degree for her (she never went) and they never had to pay for a wedding (we eloped). Her parents also bought houses for her brothers' family's. She says they pay the parents rent, but I'm sure it is next to nothing. I feel that my wife is entitled to something, not a house, but some compensation. We are currently looking for a house, and she mentioned that she might talk to her parents about helping with a down payment. I was all for it. Does that make me a leach?
