Why can i talk to and be myself with girls via facebook but not in person?

i mean i talk to em when they ask me questions but im always hesitant to ask them things or when i do i feel funny doing it, not just with girls but people in general if im not around a person all the time i kinda hesitate to talk to em comfortably. can u help me
